Junior Programs

Our junior tennis programs provide a fun and interactive introduction to tennis for children ages 4 and above, ensuring immediate success. By using modified equipment such as tennis balls, racquets, nets, and courts, young players can enjoy rallies and learn the fundamentals of the game. This approach helps them develop skills quickly, making it easier to transition to a full court. All participants must be Junior Members ($30 for the season) in order to participate in any programs.

Program registration and payments can only be made online. Our "SPRING" program registration will be available on February 26, 2024 at 8:00am. First week of lessons will commence on April 15, 2024.

Before registering, please make sure to purchase your 2024 Junior Membership, as the registration link will only be visible to current members who are logged in. If you have any questions, please contact Val at val@lakeviewheightstennis.com.

Playing Categories

Red Ball

Children aged 4-7 years should be enrolled in our Red Ball classes, which are played on a smaller size court, using special lower nets and a red low compression ball. (The red low compression ball is a little bit larger and lighter than a regular tennis ball.)

Orange Ball

Students aged 8-10 years should be enrolled in our Orange Ball classes, which are using 3/4 size court, but with the regular nets and an orange low compression ball. (The orange low compression ball is the same size, but lighter than a regular tennis ball.)

Green Dot Ball

Students aged over 11 years and up and new to the sport of tennis should be enrolled in our Green Dot Ball classes. Green dot balls are lighter and have lower compression than regular balls, which means the ball is slower and easier to hit than a regular ball. We are using the full size of the tennis court.

Intermediate

Intermediate students aged 10-16 years old. Play is full court with regular balls.

Equipment

Kids’ Balls: The balls move through the court more slowly and bounce lower. Young players are able to receive and project the ball more easily, which aids in the development of proper technical fundamentals (grip, set-up, impact point, hitting zone, and recovery). Use of  Kids’ balls also promotes longer rallies and the overall importance of consistency.

Junior Racquets: This aspect is one of the most important and often ignored. The proper racquet size (length and weight) will ensure racquet head control, stability, and feel for the ball which are the most important factors in ball control. It will also help prevent future injuries from the use of oversized racquets. (10-12 years old who are ready for regular ball play)
