Tennis Ladder Rules & Format

1. Structure of the Ladder

  • Players are ranked from #1 (highest) to #30 (lowest).
  • Players schedule their own matches. Weeks run Saturday to Friday.
  • Report scores by Friday at 10 PM to val@lakeviewheightstennis.com.
  • All players must accept the first challenge they receive each week unless away (notify Val).

2. Challenge Rules

Challenge Restriction #1: Limited Challenge Range

  • You can only challenge opponents ranked up to 3 spots above you.
    • Example: If ranked #8, you can challenge #7, #6, or #5.

Challenge Restriction #2: Time Between Repeat Matches

  • You cannot challenge the same player again for at least 2 weeks.

3. Match Rules

  • Matches are best-of-3 sets. If both agree, the third set may be a 10-point tiebreak.
  • The challenger must propose at least 3 match times.
  • The challenged player must accept within 3 days or forfeit their rank.

4. Ranking Adjustments

  • If the challenger wins, they take the opponent's rank.
  • If they lose, they stay in place and must wait 14 days to re-challenge that opponent.

5. Active Play Requirement

  • If a player does not initiate or accept a challenge in 14 days, they drop 1 rank.

6. New Players

  • All new players begin at the bottom of the ladder.
